What Is The Process To Get A CEREC Same-Day Crown?

A crown made with CEREC makes the process of getting a permanent crown easier than ever! Before we get started, Dr. Fiorentini will determine if CEREC is right for you. Depending on how much healthy tooth structure you have remaining, you may just need a composite restoration or you may need a crown. Once your tooth is prepared for the restoration, there are just a few steps that take less than an hour meaning you will be able to be on your way soon! While the crown is milling and being custom stained, we invite you to sit back and relax while you enjoy your favorite music or TV show.

  • Optical Impression

    In order to make the desired restoration, a 3-dimensional image of the tooth that needs to be restored must be created from a digital camera scan of the tooth. This three-dimensional image will be used to create the restoration without the need to take a messy impression. This means no horrible tasting impression material for you to gag on. The computer and CEREC 3D software then converts the digital image into a three-dimensional virtual model of the prepared tooth. The virtual model created with this scan is fast and more accurate than traditional impression material.

  • Design

    A virtual 3D model of your mouth is made and Dr. Fiorentini designs your crown chairside while you watch. This process ensures that the crown perfectly fits your mouth and has the ideal contours meticulously reviewed by the doctor.

  • Milling Unit

    This device is used to create the custom restoration needed for the tooth. Based on the original color of your tooth, the dentist is able to select the correct colored ceramic block and in a few minutes, the milling device is able to create the restoration needed.

  • Customization

    Dr. Fiorentini will study the contour and shading of the adjacent teeth. Once the proper fit is confirmed, he will custom stain your crown to provide enhanced aesthetics. Try to guess which tooth is your CEREC same day crown!

  • Placing The Restoration
